TL Students were invited through the generosity of California Film Institute Education Program, and the Mill Valley Film Festival for a special screening of The Hate U Give, a film adapted from the acclaimed novel by Angie Thomas. A powerful discussion followed the film screening with the film's producers, Director George Tillman Jr. and the film’s star, Amandla Stenberghe, as the young black prep school student named Starr, who watches her best friend get killed by a white police officer and now must find her voice amidst pressure from both her community and the mostly white school she attends.
